A solid foundation is the most important part of anything you build. From starting new careers to rebuilding our lives after relocations, I’ve seen that prove true time and time again.
For 14 years, I helped build a foundation repair company from scratch. What started in 2005 as a conversation with a life insurance client led to a business with 67 employees doing roughly $19 million a year by the time we sold it in 2019.
There were three partners, but I handled most of the front-end operations. I met with homeowners, inspected properties, bid projects, ordered materials, coordinated installs, and collected payment. We built our own systems and procedures so jobs were done consistently and correctly. Clear expectations. Defined steps. Accountability at every stage.
When someone has foundation issues, it’s stressful. They’re writing a large check and hoping the work is done right. In most cases, it’s their biggest asset. They want honesty. They want quality. They want someone who will show up, do what they said they would do, and stand behind it.
That’s what we built the company around: trust, follow-through, and delivering on our word.
When we sold the business, I stayed on for a year to help with the transition. Once that period ended, I wasn’t ready to retire, and after being an entrepreneur for years, I wasn’t interested in working for someone else. Real estate was the perfect solution. It revolves around the same asset and the same emotions—just at a different points in the process.
My real estate career started in March of 2021, right as COVID was beginning. Around the same time, my wife Jennifer and I moved from Naples to Port Charlotte so we could live on the water after our kids went off to college. We are originally from Ohio, but after nearly 20 years in Naples, we were ready for one last move. I was starting a new career in a new community amidst unprecedented times. I went back to the basics: open houses and leads. And that has turned into repeat business and referrals.
It all came down to how I serve my clients and the experience I create. Buying or selling a home is one of the biggest financial decisions most people will ever make. There’s uncertainty, emotions, and a lot of money involved. My background has been extremely helpful in that environment. I can walk through a home and quickly evaluate potential issues. Foundation problems—often one of the most expensive repairs a homeowner can face—don’t go unnoticed. I’m able to help clients understand whether they’re making a sound investment or whether there’s work to be done and factor that into their decision with clear eyes.
My role is to guide clients through the process step by step, explain what’s happening, and make sure they’re making informed decisions. No matter the price point, I’m going to provide
the same effort, time, and level of service. I tell people upfront that I’ll treat them like family, which means they’ll get straightforward answers—even when those conversations aren’t easy. Doing things the right way matters more to me than doing things quickly.
Outside of work, my wife Jennifer and our kids, Rilee and Casey, enjoy going to Disney every other year. It’s a tradition we started during our first Christmas in Florida, the week before the holidays, which is still the best time to go, and it has stuck all these years. I also stay close with my college friends, enjoy spending time on the water, and we have a silver lab named Scarlett, a nod to our Ohio State roots and the scarlet and gray we have followed for years.
I’ve learned it doesn’t really matter what you’re doing. If you put people first, are honest, and follow through on your word, you’re going to build trust. You’re going to build strong relationships. And you’re going to make a difference.
Having spent years in construction and holding a Florida builder’s license, I evaluate properties with a different set of eyes than a typical agent. I know what to look for. I understand the difference between cosmetic issues and expensive fixes. When we walk into a home, I’m already thinking ahead to what’s likely to show up on an inspection and how that factors into an offer. That allows us to structure decisions strategically instead of reacting later.
At the same time, I believe people deserve to understand what they’re deciding on, especially when it involves one of the biggest investments of their lives. That’s why I take the time to explain what I’m seeing and lay out the pros and cons clearly. I never pressure my clients. The final decision is always yours, and I’ll be right there to support it. I’ll help you think through your options, solve problems quickly when they arise, and coordinate all the details on your behalf. I make sure your interests are protected from start to finish, and even after closing, I’m a lifelong resource!
Sincerely,

Scott Standriff
